A traditional stillwater pattern given a modern and controversial twist
Many wild-lough fishers will balk at the sight of a classic Dabbler transformed by foam eyes, but it is hugely effective. Forget that this is a Booby and fish it as a top-dropper or point fly on a floating, intermediate or sink-tip line where it will pop, skate and cause a commotion in the surface when pulled, and then dive enticingly as the retrieve progresses. This change in presentation often proves irresistible to chasing trout. It's proving as deadly for wild brown trout on Irish and Scottish lakes as it is for reservoir rainbows and brownies.
