An exhibition exploring England’s chalk streams opens at Meadow in Stockbridge on 26 March.
‘Waterways and Chalk Streams’ features drawings and lithographs by Beatrice Forshall and Rosie MacCurrach, exploring delicate river ecosystems that support wild brown trout, salmon and diverse aquatic life.
.
The opening includes preview drinks, a panel discussion, and optional seasonal supper. Speakers include lifelong fly fisherman Jim Murray MBE, Paul Vignaux, executive director of the Test and Itchen Association, and Wendy Reid, head of education and engagement at Wessex Rivers Trust.
.
Ms Forshall, artist-in-residence at the Cambridge Conservation Initiative, recently published ‘The Book of Vanishing Species’ with Bloomsbury. Ms MacCurrach works as a print designer and textile artist.
“Chalk streams are quiet rivers, often hidden amongst the willows,” Ms MacCurrach said. “Drawing the river local to my home is an ongoing exploration of place, of habitat, an act of listening and a way of sharing these extraordinary, enchanting and fragile places with others.”
