Bestselling author and award-winning broadcaster Will Millard has been appointed as an ambassador for the Rivers Trust.

Will is a passionate advocate for cleaner river catchments who specialises in stories about natural history, freshwater, fish and fishing. His critically acclaimed debut, The Old Man and the Sand Eel, chronicled a wild journey across Britain in pursuit of a fishing record and established him as a distinctive voice in angling writing. He has since written the international bestseller The Way of the Hermit with Ken ‘The Hermit of Treig’ Smith and has ghostwritten two Sunday Times bestsellers: Call Me Red with Cumbrian shepherdess Hannah Jackson and In The Hide with BBC wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan.

He is currently researching a new book on the state of British rivers for Hodder & Stoughton, due in 2027.

The Rivers Trust works with ambassadors who use their public platforms to speak up for wild, healthy, natural freshwater habitats. Millard’s appointment adds a prominent angling and conservation voice to that roster.

He is also an ambassador for the Angling Trust and World Fish Migration Day, and is a Fellow of both the Royal Geographical Society and the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.
