Hazumi is a super-low-memory shooting (or running) line produced in Japan for NAM Products of Sweden. Its flat profile and high-floating, tangle-free properties make it as easy to handle as most coated running lines, but with all the slick, shooting advantages of mono. In our test, it came off the spool in loose coils, and with a quick stretch and a bit of heat from our hands, it became almost memory free. The thicker 60lb (sunrise) and 70lb (pink) sizes proved easiest to handle with thick salmon lines, but for ultimate distance and use with lighter lines (7wt and less), thinner diameters (40lb yellow and 50lb orange) will perform better.

Because it floats, it lifts off the water easily with minimal resistance through the rings. Regular users of the product recommend adding a whipped or Perfection loop at either end to provide a secure, low-diameter connection to fly-line and backing.

Hazumi is equally effective for saltwater fishing, as long as you use a line tray to keep loose coils out of the wave wash, as this would tangle a tow rope. In warmer climates, the line should become more supple and even easier to use.

Available in 40lb (yellow), 50lb (orange), 60lb (sunrise) and 70lb (pink) breaking strains on 60m spools.
